Arthur Weidenhammer founded his company in 1955 with the singular mission to find new ways to package consumer goods. There is a devotion to this purpose that continues in our DNA. Today, we are the only company dedicated 100% to delivering excellence in bulk ice cream packaging, machinery and customer commitment. Weidenhammer New Packaging was formed to address fundamental problems facing the ice cream producers and dip cabinet operators in bringing their products to market: safety, simplicity, and modern solutions. They were in need of a better solution than the nearly 90 year old Bulkan, bulk ice cream system. Weidenhammer Packaging Group (Heidelberg, Germany) in 2006 committed to developing a solution. The company assigned a team of engineers and developers to identify ideal solutions for the packaging and machinery to commercialize new systems for the ice cream producers. A key focus was also on the dip cabinet operators to maximize cut-free safety in scooping and efficiency in handling. By 2007 Weidenhammer had developed the FoldDrum, a dynamic system including new in-plant forming machinery for the ice cream producer and a 100% metal-free drum for the dip cabinet operators. The launch of the FoldDrum was historical for breaking the norms of acceptance. Weidenhammer knew that no customer and no market should be left without innovation for 90 years. Into this neglected area of the market, different designs, different processes, different machinery methodologies came together in ways delivering positive options to the customers. After 90 years of “sameness”, the FoldDrum system brought a difference that the market was craving. The FoldDrum difference is visible and delivers benefits to the top line growth and bottom line performance for customers. Market reception has been overwhelming and nearly 25% of the ice cream market has converted to the customer-preferred packaging and machine systems. In 2014, Weidenhammer Packaging Group entered into a joint venture with Sonoco Products Co. (NYSE: SON) for the ice cream business in the US. Today, Weidenhammer New Packaging llc enjoys the continued entrepreneurial spirit of its deep family heritage coupled with the strength of a $5BN global packaging company. We are a different company bringing unsurpassed attention to the bulk ice cream markets we serve.
